Health Really Matters

Allergy Season

The allergy season is upon us. There are excellent non-sedating antihistamine medications available which do an excellent job of controlling allergies. However, serious sufferers should look at immunotherapy or allergy shots. This method of allergy control has been around for many years but still is very effective in the long term. Something to be considered.

Smoking Ban

Over the past few years there have comprehensive bans on smoking in public places.  New York City was an early proponent of this policy and has noticed an 8% drop in hospital admissions due to heart attacks within one year after the new smoking bans were started.

Peak Flow Meter

If you have asthma, you might want to look into purchasing a peak flow meter.  It’s a portable, hand-held device that gives you a measure of your ability to expel air from your lungs.  It’s a quick way of determining how bad your breathing is.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a chronic issue facing many of us today. IBS is a condition characterized by abdominal pain and changes in bowel habits. It's estimated to affect up to 20% of Canadians. If bloating or cramping is a part of your life, it might be time to learn about treatments available including fibre based solutions, foods to avoid, and medications.

Medicine Centre

/images/2008/04/MC_Big-box-Ad2_300x250.jpgMedicine Centre pharmacies are a group of independent, neighbourhood-oriented pharmacists dedicated to supporting healthy communities in BC, Alberta and The Yukon. Visit any one of our independently owned pharmacies and meet your neighbourhood pharmacist. Find a location near you at www.medicinecentre.com. We'll have plenty of time to get to know you, and how we can support you and your family.

Although each Medicine Centre is independently owned, we all work together. We share best practices, and learn the services and support each of our communities need most, so that like a good neighbour, we can be there for you when you need us.

Are we different from other Pharmacies?

In a word, yes. Medicine Centre pharmacists take the time to listen before speaking, and take even more time to understand you and your family; to know your history and to help you plan for the future.

Medicine Centre Pharmacies do not sell tobacco products;

rather, we spend our time helping to educate our individual communities on health matters close to home. We believe healthy informed people make healthy informed communities. That's what being an independent pharmacist means to us: it means putting people before business, community before commerce, and healthy neighbours before healthy profits.

Come on over to Medicine Centre Pharmacy, where Health Really Matters! Meet our people, and discover what a great neighbour can do for you and your family!
